Bruce Johnson's branches out with Little Journeys

Bruce Johnson's blog. "Little Journeys" adds to  Arts and Crafts

by Kristina Blackford

Bruce Johnson, author and leading Arts and Crafts expert, has added personal reflections to his website, “Arts and Crafts Collector.”  Along with links to dealers, a “Collector’s Guide” to rare pieces, and a section named “Around the House,” Johnson writes a blog titled, “Little Journeys.”

“Little Journeys” reflects on events in which Johnson participates, such as Arts and Crafts Week at the Grove Park Inn.   At times, “Little Journeys” is a place for Johnson to connect with readers through reminiscences.  Johnson’s latest entry, “Memories of Memorial Days,” moves away from the arts and crafts scene to bring the holiday into focus.

Johnson’s father, a World War II veteran, served and then “quietly and modestly assumed a new set of duties, worries and responsibilities,” Johnson writes.  He recalls his father and his friends talking quietly about the war, and quickly changing the subject: “It was as if they were still protecting us.”

Bruce Johnson is the director of the National Arts and Crafts Conference at The Grove Park Inn.  He is also the author of “An Unexpected Guest,” a mystery set in the Grove Park Inn; and “Arts and Crafts Shopmarks, 1895-1940.”  See his website for a full list of books, links, and events.
