These are song lyrics that I wrote for my creative writing class. The piece is supposed to be sung in a bluesy, soulful way, kind of like something Norah Jones or Ray Charles would sing.

Vinegar and Oil

No matter what we do
No matter how hard we try
It always stays the same girl
                                           Baby you know it’s true
We’re just like vinegar and oil
We don’t go together very well
Unless we’re shaken up or stirred
                                                  We don’t Mix very well
So I’m leaving you tomorrow
Please don’t beg me to stay
You’re no good for me baby
So I got to get away
Yeah…
I really need to get away…
                                               I’ve got to stay away

I let you take care of my heart
And you tore it all apart
You’re stealing my soul babe…
And that’s a pain I can live without
So I’ve got to get away…I just got to stay away…I just got to stay away

No matter what we do
No matter how hard we try
It always stays the same girl
                                           Baby you know it’s true
We’re just like vinegar and oil
We don’t go together very well
Unless we’re shaken up or stirred
                                                   We don’t mix…very well

So I’m leaving you tomorrow
Please don’t beg me to stay
You’re no good for me baby
So I got to get away
Yeah…
I really need to get away…
                                          I’ve got to stay away
