The Muses has been a landmark to readers throughout the region for 40+ years. Owned by a mother daughter team, Shirley Sprinkle and Kelly Treiber, readers could depend on their evaluations and recommendations about what to read. Someone working in the store has always read every book on their shelves.
Alas, independent bookstores such as theirs are disappearing.
The Muses will host a booksigning for my new book, MISS DOROTHY AND HER BOOKMOBILE (HarperCollins), illustrated by Susan Condi Lamb on Saturday, 27 February. I will be sad to be their last author to sign books in the store. Every author who has been their guests has special memories of their hospitality
