Southern authors at event for NC Writers Network

Southern Fictions/Southern Identities:

Reading and Panel Discussion: A fundraiser for the North Carolina Writers’ Network

Sunday, October 16, 5 to 7 p.m. at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café

“Southern Fictions/Southern Identities” will feature a reading by Kathryn Stripling Byer from her new collection Southern Fictions, a sonnet sequence about race relations in the South, followed by a panel discussion on southern history and identity with writers Joseph Bathanti and Pamela Duncan.  Audience members will be invited and encouraged to take part in the discussion, moderated by NCWN Executive Director Ed Southern. Donations collected at the event will support the Network’s 2011 Fall Conference, one of the largest and most inclusive writers’ gatherings in the country, to be held November 18–20 in Asheville.

Hi Rob, the good news is that Cherokee poet/essayist/teacher Debora Kinsland Foerst will be on our panel, too.

A wine reception will follow.  Thanks!    K
