The first wee printing of my book has sold out and the second printing arrived late Wednesday. I am very grateful for its reception, especially amongst folks who remember these old techniques or heard tell of them from elder relatives. Like this one, from the mother of a friend and colleague. From Mz. Regenia Allan: "this is a great book to read. She has made the book come alive and so much of what she has written about the "hill" folks brings back a lot of fond memories. There is so much in the book that I have heard about all my life from listening to my Mom, and aunts, and older people from around here that I felt like I was setting on our back porch reliving them once again. This book will make you remember, think, laugh a lot, and even shed a tear or two. You would really enjoy reading this book. "
I'll be at Malaprop's on the 10th of August and City Lights on the 31st, with gratitude to both those stellar shops.
Do you have an over-abundance of squash yet? Tomato blight? Law, 'tis the season, isn't it?
