There is a great new cookbook out by nationally recognized food writer Elizabeth Wiegand who has written for Southern Living, The Washington Post and many others. Her first book, "The Outer Banks Cookbook," came out a couple of years ago & her latest book is "The New Blue Ridge Cookbook: Authentic Recipes from Virginia's Highlands to North Carolina's Mountains."
The cookbook has recipes from down-home cooks to fancy from fabulous local restaurant chefs.
It is filled with fun and informative stories about things such as ramps, black walnuts and Western NC maple syrup, but my favorite is the chocolate sauce for pork chops made from Black Mountain Chocolate's (actually in Swannanoa's Beacon Village on Alexander Place) dark chocolate! What a creative treat!
