Personal Meaning-Making: The Poetry of Patrick Bahls
Tuesday, April 22, 7 p.m., West Asheville Branch Library, 942 Haywood Rd., 250-4750
West Asheville resident Dr. Patrick Bahls, Associate Professor of Math and Honors Program Director at UNC Asheville, and his colleague, Dr. Rick Chess, Professor of Language and Literature and Director of the Center for Jewish Studies at UNC Asheville, present an evening of poetry.
Dr. Bahls began writing poetry some years ago as “a means of reflection and personal meaning-making”; and has recently begun sharing his work with a wider audience. His poems have appeared in a number of literary journals, including Adirondack Review, Eunoia Review, Green Mountain Review and others. “Above all,” he says, “I enjoy poets who prize economy, who can convey great meaning in a sparse few images and words.” \
Dr. Chess, author of three books of poetry, will introduce the program and also share a poem or two.
