Marsha Walpole posted an eventLauren Myracle, well-known author of books for early, mid, and late teens, has a newly released book, Shine, that is set in Transylvania county. This work of fiction for late teens and young adults involves themes of prejudice, poverty, drug use, and redemption as its heroine, Cat, endeavors to learn why and by whom her childhood friend Patrick was brutally beaten and left for dead tied to a gas pump at an isolated convenience store. Along the way Cat must face her own traumatized past and come to grips with the deeper meaning of family ties and true friendship. Although this is a work of fiction, the topics addressed are timely and thought-provoking. Additional information on Shine may be found at the website of its publisher, Abrams-Amulet Books Shine by Amulet Books, an imprint of Abrams .
Other books by Lauren Myracle include Eleven and Luv Ya Bunches for young teens, Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks for mid-teens, and ttyl and Bliss for late teens. Myracle's website is Lauren Myracle's website .
