She has just won third place in trhe Adult/Professional categort for The Joyce Kilmer Poetry Contest. She learned about the contest on "The Read on WNC.":
The adult winners are all from this region. “Lost in the Roar of Big Santeetlah” by Mary Ricketson of Murphy, is the first place winner. The second place poem is “Winter Woods” by Kit Schmeiser of Fairview. Third place is awarded to Julia Nunnally Duncan of Marion for “My Mother’s Elm.”
