Sat., Feb. 9, 2 p.m. – Dr. Tim Silver talks about the environmental effects of the Civil War on Western North Carolina and beyond.
Sat., Mar. 16, 2 p.m. – The North Carolina State Archives presents “Sacred Bodies: Caring for the Dead During and After the War.”
Sat., Apr. 13, 2 p.m. – Chris J. Hartley, author of “Stoneman’s Raid, 1865,” discusses Federal major general George Stoneman’s raid into Confederate territory.
Sat., May 11, 2 p.m. – Dr. Gordon McKinney presents a lecture on William H. Thomas and the Cherokee Indians.
Sat., Jun. 15, 2 p.m. – Panel discussion on the aftermath of the Civil War, including the breakdown of institutions and economic hardship.
All lectures will be held in the Reuter Center Lecture Hall on the UNC Asheville campus. Reservations are not required but are suggested; call 253-9231 for more information.
