At opposite ends of the teen / YA literature age range are two books by Lauren Myracle that deal with bullying in their content.  Ten addresses bullying peripherally to the primary narrative of the tenth year of its primary character, Winnie.  Shine is for late teens and has injurious bullying as a primary theme along with prejudice regarding sexual preference. Shine neither condones nor condemns anyone's sexual preference.  Rather it addresses prejudices that accompany such as heroine, Cat, seeks to learn why her childhood friend, Patrick, was badly beaten.

Many of my customers have given me extremely good feedback on Shine. It's definitely on my list to read. Sounds like it deals with tough subjects in a manner that resonates with Teens/Tweens. Of course, with Lauren Myracle being the authoress, how could it be otherwise? We'd loooove it if she came to our store!
