Marsha Walpole posted an eventOn February 22 and 23, the Western North Carolina Historical Association will present performances of Sean O’Leary’s play, “Beneath Shelton Laurel.” The play, presented in the Reader Theatre style, is based on the 1863 Shelton Laurel Massacre in Madison County, where thirteen people suspected of Unionism were killed by Confederate soldiers.
“Beneath Shelton Laurel” will be performed on Fri., Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sat., Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in the Thomas W. Simpson Administration Building Lecture Hall on the A-B Tech campus. Tickets are $10 per person, or $8 for members of the WNC Historical Association or $5 for students with ID. They can be bought in advance through the WNCHA website, by calling 253-9231, or by emailing smh@wnchistory.org. All tickets will be held at the door.
