Book Discussion X reads Flannery
A Good Man Is Hard to Find and Other Stories by Flannery O’Connor is the subject of Book Discussion X at Battery Park Book Exchange in the Grove Arcade, Asheville, 7 p.m., Sept. 15.
The 1955 collection is a key work in O’ Connor’s career as well as in world literature. The Georgia author used mundane materials to tell a new kind of sensational story, or, as she said it, “reveal the mystery of God’s grace in everyday life.” She used shocking details because, she said, “To the hard of hearing you shout and for the almost blind you draw large and startling figures.”
The book is available in both current paperback and out-of-print editions. To learn more, visit “The Read on WNC” at TheReadonWNC.ning.com. Call the bookstore at 252-0020.
