A Cold November Day

A lost and lonely woman
 shivered and closed her eyes,
As memories of much loved yesterdays
ran through her tortured mind.
Though it seemed like only yesterday,
It had been a year since God had called her man away.
Leaving her standing there lost and lonely...
On a cold November day.

Her memories were racing...
small smiles mixed with tears,
Recalling a single, beautiful lifetime...
Oh so lovingly remembered and well lived years.
So many dreams and wishes
that now would never come to life.
But oh what a privilege and an honor it was, to be his loving wife.

In the wind she seemed to hear him whisper.
Sweetheart you need to move on and live your life.
Live a life without sorrow, filled with laughter and light.
Live, love, grow and move on. Dream new dreams and be happy.
You know this is what I want for you my beautiful, lovely wife.

She laid a rose against the stone that marked his too short life.
Wiping away the tears she smiled and thanked God
For letting her be his wife.
With a love filled heart and healed soul she turned and walked away.
Her brand new life was starting...
On that cold November day.
