Rob,
I think I have something going. It is called The Liar's Bench and meets the first Saturday of each month at City Lights Bookstore. We have met once and it worked well. The program is "an eclectic mix of storytelling, music and poetry." We hope to add theater. The next meeting is July 3rd.

Rob, Thank you for developing a forum for people to express themselves regarding topics/concepts that deal with our relationships with each other and the earth as a whole. I need to send you a CD that I released in 2003 and some of my other writings. You might see some reason to make part of this material available to a wider audience. My belief is that the educational process should begin with our immediate physical surroundings---names of mountains,rivers,plants to name a few. In my humble opinion we go to distant places far too fast when we have a wonderful environment to start locally. My hope is that local educators will recognize the opportunity while we still have a wonderful environment to focus on. Please let me know how to send you the CD.

Great to read you here, Dave, and glad to follow along, Gary! I am in wonder about the continuing perception of the dangerousness of traditional values, but I think things are changing. Caring for our environment--maintaining a balance between society and nature--and also between the living and our ancestors, and the pragmatic and spiritual--has some pretty radical implications. But it's just traditional.

Anyway, I'd like to get something going about regathering awareness, knowledge, and skill. So that our kids can learn.

I hear and read a lot of good stuff, but all in scattered places. Maybe we can create a favorite sources forum?

The concept of individual property rights has been powerful in these mountains for generations. Our Native Americans have much to teach us about the ownership of all elements--shared ownership and collective responsibility for protecting everything that is in nature. Our water,air and soil must be guarded with constant vigilance and kept safe for our co-existence with them.
