Reading Preference:
I spend a lot of time reading children's books, as that is my business, but I can't blame it all on work. A good book is a good book, regardless. I enjoy books that give me a fresh perspective, make me care about the characters, or just yank me out of my everyday life. I am not a huge fan of fantasy, but if the writing is strong and I care about the characters, I can be won over. I read mostly fiction. The non-fiction I read tends to be business oriented or personal essays or memoir. In the store we stock books that will have lasting appeal--classics and future classics.
Favorites:
Kevin Henkes, J.K Rowling, Madeleine L'Engle, Kerry Madden, Allan Wolf, Jon. J. Muth, Robert McCloskey, Hope Larson...

Local and regional authors and illustrators…

Because over the last eight years I have generally found that wordless picture books, no matter how visually stunning, hilarious or touching or award-winning, can be a really tough sell.

And that's a shame.

Now, I should be quick to point out that there is no lack of interest in these books on…
