I've just learned that Remembering, a true-story about "Decoration Day" has won the Denny Plattner Award. Thank you Appalachian Heritage, Berea, and everyone who enjoyed my contribution.

Renea - Thanks for the friend invitation. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I'm trying to find a publisher for my third Mattie Mitchell humor/cozy mystery, and you can imagine how much time that takes. I'll visit your blog. Mary Berger
Hi Renea,
I'm new to The Read. Thanks for drawing me into the fold. I'll be interested to meet you one day. I spend a lot of time in Boone on the weekends, even though I live near Greensboro. Two of my books, The One and the nearly released Three Gifts are contemporary novels about the Valle Crucis area. Hope our paths will soon cross! Best wishes with your work.
Mary
Renea,
It's always nice to connect with other NC writers. I'm afraid I haven't done a very good job of staying connected with THE READ. As you know, marketing one's books can keep an author darting in many directions.
I'm author of HAD EVE COME FIRST AND JONAH BEEN A WOMAN (a collection of short stories in which I imagine OT heroes as women) and OUT OF THE PUMPKIN SHELL (a laugh/cry novel about women's friendship and family secrets).
I wish you the best with your writing projects.
Nancy
