Ted, I love this. But I do disagree with the last part--we do have more than a thousand people show up for Wordfest in Asheville. . . that's something. By God, I have to believe that's something. I so love what you've written. I care. Laura

Rob, Thank you. You introduce the notion of mastery and also continue the introduction the more complicated question of mastery of what. This brings up, for me, the concept of polycentrism. In African dance, there is no prima ballerina. Rather at a…

The Soul Tree

Hello,

I'm happy to join up in this list. I have a book coming out soon (finally?) from Grateful Steps, a rather remarkable indie press here in Asheville. It's a photography and poetry book. You can see pagespreads at www.fletchpix.com (click on The Soul Tree or you can visit my website (thehealingseed.com) and go to the final page. It will take you there. The poems are the product of a few years' reading of the sacred texts, from Rig Veda to Tao te Ching to the Bible and additional (lots of additional) reading of Cambell, Jung and such. The poems, however, are small.

Wordfest is coming up April 30-May 3. www.ashevillewordfest.org. It's an amazing beast of a festival--all poetry, all free.

Thanks, Ron for the invite. Thanks, Marijo for the nudge. xo Laura

Hi Laura,
I wanted to extend an invitation to you to contribute to an anthology that Celia Miles and I are compiling on the theme of the clothes women wear.

(I enjoyed talking with you at Mountain Lore a few weeks ago.)

You might have seen our Christmas anthology this past year. We had poetry from Glenis Redmond, Pat Riviere-Seel, MariJo Moore, Julia Nunnally Duncan, etc.

We ask that you put it in Word doc., 12pt type, Times New Roman. Deadline is May 2. Contributors receive a free copy and may buy other copies at reduced price. And we ask to send a 50-word bio. with your submission
Would love to hear from you.

Last year Celia threw a party at her clubhouse for all contributors--and it was fun to hear the contributors read their own stories/essays/poems at Accent on Books. We also had signings at Malaprop's, Mountain Made in Grove Arcade, etc.
Thanks, Nancy Dillingham
