Cover Photo Needed for Lion on the Hearth, by John Ehle

I'm in the process of reissuing John Ehle's 1961 novel Lion on the Hearth. I'd like to find a cover photo or painting of Lexington Avenue in Asheville from the 1920s. If anyone has some images I could consider, I would appreciate it. Send me a note at kevin@press53.com.

Small Press challenges

Tomorrow, April 8, I will deliver a talk to a local leadership group on the challenges of running a small press. While there are numerous challenges, my main focus will be on finding readers who love the kind of writing I love. When I founded Press 53 in October of 2005, I made a decision to not follow the markets by publishing the current trends; rather, I decided to publish the kind of writing I love and set out to find readers who agree with me. This way I would never have to edit, re-edit,…See More

Kevin,

I was the author of Prospecting for Old Furniture, written before my having knowledge of self-promotion. It was written from several perspectives, including my company's work in restoring antique furniture. An editor of Mid-West reviews said it was "masterful in its care and worthy of the highest praise." Its title needs to be The Practical Book of Buying Antique Furniture. I am following it with another which balances Antiques, New-tiques, and Fun-tiques, and I have other books well developed, which are humorous.
