WINNER OF THE JOYCE KILMER POETRY CONTEST: MARY RICKETSON

First place winner of the recent Joyce Kilmer poetry contest celebrating the anniversary of the JK National Forest is Mary Ricketson of Murphy.   Her "Lost in the Roar of Big Santeetlah" is a memorable and moving poem, one that I will be featuring on my new blog, Mountain Woman: www.themountainwoman.blogspot.com.  All three top winners are from our region.  Good for us!   You can find Mary on facebook.

Kay, let me do my part in making even more people aware of your ncpoetlaureate.blogspot.com website--because it its certainly one of the most valuable resources around. I'm thinking that soon I can begin to create a poetry feature of a sort on "The Read," and feature links to your efforts. You can put a blog on this site that includes cut-and-paste excerpts from yours--as teasers--and then lead people to your laureate blog. There's also a group on this site--Sound-and-Sense Seekers--that involves some dynamic discussion among invitees. Thanks for all/Rob
