I live near Roan Mountain and am working to complete two humor books. One of them, a result of my living in Appalachia, is now titled You Just Don't Know Hillbillies. The other makes light of antique furniture and balances it with new-tiques and others. I book I did with an illustrator is Prospecting for Old Furniture, a practical book for insuring quality in buying antique furniture.

I have degrees in counselor education from UFLA and English from ETSU, and have worked in mental health and teaching English. I have lived in Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Staunton, VA, cities in Florida, and country areas. Humor of any kind interests me.

A woman from Indiana and I were talking about her parents while we were waiting on car repairs a few days ago. She said that when faced with the question of Alzheimers, her mother said, well no, she didn't have it, but she does have Sometimers.

I have benefited from Norman Cousins's books, including Anatomy of an Illness and Head First, which scrutinizes medical diagnoses. I also like The Laughter Prescription by Lawrence Peter and Bill Dana, much other humor writing and the work of The Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor and The Humor Project. I would be interested in a joke or whatever you like.

I have a theory on why Southern women are so OVERLY accommodating, passive aggressive, pleasing to men and VIOLENTLY emotionally abusive towards themselves and specific children. Tragic, funny and at the same time very much the experience of a lot of the middle to upper class women born in the South East during the 1960's and 1970's.
