Byron Ballard has not received any gifts yet
I have returned here like an old-style prodigal because I have left bookselling and returned to writing. I am very active on Facebook and do the occasional tweet but thought it best to return here and see how this mule plows.
Friends! Are you on the receiving end of this slow and steady rain? I wouldn't have thought we could stand much more water but am grateful for full rain barrels and a garden I don't have to water.
The first wee printing of my book has sold out and the second printing arrived late Wednesday. I am very grateful for its reception, especially amongst folks who remember these old techniques or heard tell of them from elder relatives. Like this one, from the mother of a friend and…

We'll work something out that fits Ruth's schedule. Sorry, her schedule is worse than Obama's.
I thought we all should've attended naked but nobody backed me up. Hope we can see you soon--Ruth's schedule is a killer and I've just about become a hermit up here in my holler. I hardly go anywhere. I do bathe on occasion.
Cannot wait for the slingshot to hurl me back toward happiness. Criminy, between Mercury and Mars, things will be fine for about ten minutes before Mercury goes retro again. Sorry, I'll stop being a wet blanket now. Charles seems pretty chirpy, though.
Ruth's fine. She's a caregiver consultant for Project CARE out of Park Ridge Health in Fletcher. She works with folks whose loved ones have dementia. She serves six WNC counties and stays on the go while I sit home and peck at the computer slowly becoming more and more obscure despite my best efforts. I did write an afterword for Brian Knopp's collaborative novel Naked Came the Leaf Peeper, which some folks thought was amusing.
I am in a pout this morning and don't really know why. Except that I am usually predisposed to growls, pouts, funks and ennui at best during Mercury's retrograde. When does this end, oh, when will it ever end? Am willing to kick up some dust to liven things up around here.
Hey, Byron, I've missed you and all the crew there. Since marrying Ruth I hardly ever go to Asheville. Got a new book coming out next spring--nonfiction, believe it or not! You can check it out on my blog: charlesfprice.blogspot.com. My sequel to Nor the Battle to the Strong is in the hands of my publisher, languishing there seemingly forever. What have you written? How are you? What's up? I LOVE you! Charles
I think the Older Brother stole it away.
Yep -- guess I should take care of that. Although that placeholder does have a kind of this-is-the-way-I-am-before-my-first-cup-of-coffee feel to it.
Within the hour we are gone--and yeaaaa to the book. You know I'll be at its launch!
Beats me, Byron! I'm new to being on here. But soon off to explore stone circles. Wheeee. I hope you are writing up a storm!
