Connie Regan-Blake posted an eventThe winter of '77-'78, I had a dream job - I worked as a first mate for a Charterboat-captain friend of mine, moving sportfishers from Hilton Head, SC, to West Palm Beach, FL, for the sailfish season. The work also involved taking one sportfisher, a Hatteras 46 named The Warrior, to Beach Marine in Jacksonville Beach, FL, for warranty work and some custom teak cabinetry. Like any good mate, I slept in the narrow bow cabin - "narrow" because the Hatteras is famed for its deep-V hull. In West Palm, docked in either Sailfish City or Bill's Marina, I woke up one morning, looked through the bow porthole and saw these fine feathered friends lined up below the cleaning table for a handout. Since in those days, I rarely went anywhere without my Nikon, it was a simple matter to lean out the porthole and snap this shot. I did a motordrive series, and happily, they did some Busby Berkely choreography for me. the lens was probably the 80-200 Nikon "trombone" zoom that I kept on the camera. The film was probably Kodachrome 64. Light permitting, that's all I shot in those days.
