Once a Warrior King was my first book. It was published by McGraw-Hill in 1985, but is still in press and I mention it here because it remains pertinent to what has happened over the last ten years in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is basically a memoir of an experience in counterinsurgency in the Mekong delta of Vietnam. It received good reviews at the time and still read today as evidenced by emails I continue to receive from those who see the connection between the experiences of the past with those of today.
