Area writers have won IPPY Awards this year. (See below.)
What are the IPPY awards? Independent Publisher, an online magazine of the Jenkins Group since 2000, gave out awards this year in 111 categories, making choices from over 5,000 submissions.
The Jenkins Group provides, it says on its website, "the best menu of marketing and custom book publishing services for independent and small press book publishers available anywhere."
President and CEO Jerrold Jenkins purchased Small Press magazine in 1995 and turned it into Independent Publisher Online. He has co-authored and published Publish to Win! under an imprint he started, Rhodes and Easton.
44 states and some foreign countries are included among the over 2,400 independent authors and publishers who participated in the 16th annual, 2012 Independent Publisher Book Awards contest.
South-East – Best Regional Fiction Gold: Render Unto the Valley, by Rose Senehi (K.I.M. Publishing, LLC)
In the poetry category, Having a Little Talk with Capitol P Poetry, by Jim Daniels (Carnegie Mellon University Press) won the Goold. Silver went to Waking, by Ron Rash (Hub City Press).
