It seems some of you think I may have "stepped over the edge" into New Age Ism by my new book - A Book of Ceremonies and Spiritual Energies Thereof.
But I want to let all of you know that I discussed this part of my path and this book with Vine Deloria (my late mentor) years ago. He told me that we need new MODERN DAY Ceremonies for what we have to deal with in our lives these days. This by no means indicates that our traditional ceremonies are no longer of use. That is pure stupidity. What he and I discussed was a book of personal ceremonies that people can do to reconnect, or make a deeper connection to Creator/God/Spirit. And remember, American Indians do not have a corner on spirituality or ceremonies. Ceremonies have been performed on this earth for eons by all races. I am including five cards (I made them) in the book which are not to be drawn - but to be a symbol of water, nature, animals, fire, and ancestral spiritual energies. So, if anyone has any comments about me - or my gift as a medium, or what I write, please feel free to post them here.
I am doing what I am being led to do- and believe me- this path is not easy.
I am not an enrolled member of the Eastern Band or the Cherokee Nation and what I do has no reflection on anyone who is. I am Cherokee/Irish/Dutch and have never claimed to be representing any Indian nation.
I have spent several years helping other Indian writers get published (and you know who you are) in major anthologies. I do not regret anything I have written or helped to get published.
