Connie Regan-Blake posted an eventHangman, Hangman Slack Your Rope was a night of gallows music and a recounting of the hanging of Jack Lambert in Bryson City (once called Charleston) on July 9th, 1886. Decendants of Lambert were present as was decendants of the murder victim, Dick Wilson.
A 20-page letter, written by Lambert on the night before his execution was discussed as well as proof that he was not guilty of the murder. In addition, an old folklore story dealing with Lambert's alleged survival as evidenced by an article in the New York Times. Program concluded with "The Ballad of Jack Lambert." Did Lambert survive his hanging?
