New anthology just out, thanks to the hard work of Celia Miles and Nancy Dillingham. A lovely gathering of holiday stories/poetry from 45 North Carolina women writers whose "unique voices have roots in and connections to western North Carolina." Writers include Susan Snowden, Glenda Barrett, Dee Dee Parker, Nancy Dillingham, Joan Crook, to name a few.
On Oct. 25th, from 10am-12noon,in concert with the Brevard College Homecoming, Celia Miles and myself will be reading from "Christmas Presence" at Highland Book Store in Brevard, across the street from the college. Please join us!
Copies will be on sale(excellent Christmas gifts) or can be ordered from Celia Miles at celiamiles@fastmail.fm or Catawba Publishing, Charlotte, NC (www.catabapublishing.com).
The beauty of anthologies is reading the work of authors we hear about but never have a chance to read, as most of us are featured in literary magazines published by national colleges. Touching stories and poetry, beautiful cover...a perfect gift.

I hear it is a great book. ---Sherry Austin
Thanks for commenting. Yes, it's a good read. The amazing part, is the great job the editors did in connecting writers from every age catagory along with the fact that, although we don't all hail from Western North Carolina, it's difficult to tell that from the heart of every story. Fortunately, now we all call WNC home.
The jacket is a painted snowfilled scene and invites all readers to come inside and make themselves cozy. If they don't have this book at your local bookstore, you can contact Catawba Publishing in Charlotte or Celia Miles at the above email.
Again, thanks for checking in. Nancy
A chapter of my book, The Days Between the Years, is in the book. I haven't seen it yet though! I was unable to make the gathering to celebrate the book and to get my copies.
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 2, for a discussion of CHRISTMAS PRESENCE at the Henderson County library. Several contributing authors will read their contributions to this anthology. Tentative time: 2-4. Email sherry@sherryaustin.com for updates.
Thanks for the info. Is the read only for Henderson County writers? I'd love to join everyone. Hope to see you at the read here in Brevard, Oct. 25th, from 10 am until 12 noon. Nancy
Hi, Nancy. Sorry to be so late responding. I opted for email notification if anyone replied to my posts, but I don't get them, and I forget to look at the site regularly otherwise. I'm sure anyone who would like to participate is welcome. I am meeting Celia and Joan tomorrow at Frankie Bones and will be sure to discuss it with her.

I'd love to make it to Brevard Oct 25th, but I have a signing in Asheville around that time.

My personal email: sherry at sherryaustin.com.
Hi, Nancy. I enjoyed your piece in the book! I had lunch yesterday with Celia and Joan Medlicott and Ceilia spoke highly of you. It is a lovely book, isn't it?

We plan to have refreshments at the Dec 2 2-4 reading. I hope to ask all those who plan to read to bring a small plate of cookies or something. Celia suggests that Henderonsville-area contributors be given priority over those from the greater WNC area, since she has many opportunities outside Hendersonville, but, depending on how many people will read, we may be able to include others. I would like for the reading to actually go on for two hours with a short break for refreshments, etc. in between.

I know Celia has given Rob the list of all her events, but I'm going to post them here, as well.

See you! ---Sherry Austin.
