The Brittain Cove Stories
Brittain Cove, located off Exit 17 of 19/23 in Buncombe County, is a remarkable place. The grave of the original settler, William Brittain, survives on property overlooking farmland and Whitted Knob. The diverse community of natives and newcomers have banded together to deny a developer affordable access to a beautiful mountaintop--fearing many threats, including a depleted water table and a radically changed way of life.

Enjoyed the article.... William Brittian was my 5th great grand uncle by way of his wife, Rachel Clayton, daughter of my 6th great grandparents, Lambert Clayton and Sarah Davidson.
