Event Description

Come enjoy an evening of story, music, and poetry interwoven in an exploration and celebration of the ways nature speaks to us.

Frannie Oates, award-winning actress, writer, educator and storyteller will weave her enchantment as she shares how the WNC mountains have been a refuge and inspiration.  Oates is a not only from these mountains but of them, a native of Asheville, NC she has called Henderson County her home for the past twenty-plus years.  Many remember her performance last year as Daisy Werthan in Hendersonville Little Theatre’s Driving Miss Daisy, for which she won HLT’s Barney award for Best Performance by an actress in 2011.

This one-woman show will be at The Fountainhead Bookstore on Saturday, June 2nd at 7:00 p.m.  Space is limited, thus it is advisable to get your tickets early.  Tickets are $12.00, of which 15% goes to support the Muddy Sneakers program, a WNC organization which seeks to counter “nature deficit disorder” in our young people.  Executive Director Ryan Olson put it this way, “Here in WNC, we have such tremendous resources and yet many children have never been exposed to or educated on this truly magnificent, ecologically diverse landscape.”  In addition, 15% of the proceeds from any book sales that evening will also go to Muddy Sneakers.
