Rita Golden Gelman will present and sign her book Tales of a Female Nomad. She will discuss living with families in the developing world, learning their customs, their arts, and their way of life. For 25 years she has been on the road; she has no home and hardly any possessions. She will discuss her current enthusiasm: the Gap Year and bringing the Gap Year custom to the U.S.: "Every student should know that it is possible to travel internationally-- during the year between high school and the next phase of life." Gelman has a plan for how communities can set up "Back-a-Gapper" scholarships in every high school in the country. A Gap Year gives the youth confidence, focus, and a totally new perspective on the world. The experience puts them way ahead of their peers.
