Event Description

BLACK BEAR BOOKS CELEBRATES THEIR GRAND REOPENING AND CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DAY JULY 30TH AND 31ST!

Black Bear Books will celebrate their Grand Reopening on July 30th at 4:00 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Black Bear Books was purchased in November of 2009 by Chris and Karen Walker. The ribbon-cutting will be attended by members of the Boone Chamber of Commerce, as well as local leaders. The public is invited. Immediately following the ribbon-cutting, local author Peggy Poe Stern will be signing and discussing her many novels and nonfiction books. Friday evening, Random House authors Karen Hall and Mary Doria Russell will be presenting on 'How to Get Your Book Published'. To keep the kids entertained, a pajama party is taking place with story time and milk and cookies – don't forget to wear your pajamas!

Saturday, July 31st is Customer Appreciation Day! Peggy Poe Stern will be back in the store in the morning for anyone who didn't get a chance to see her the night before. Foscoe Country Corner will be on hand at lunchtime providing a free lunch to all of Black Bear's supporters. Throughout the afternoon and evening, several authors will be on hand to discuss and sign their books, including, local historians Michael Hardy and Elizabeth Baird Hardy, New York Times best-selling authors Sharyn McCrumb and Mary Doria Russell and Catholic journalist and speaker Mary Jo Anderson (please see schedule below).

All day on Saturday, visitors to Black Bear Books will find discounts throughout the store and door prizes, including a chance to win free Bald Guy coffee for a year! We'll also have face painting for kids of all ages.
