Mindi Meltz will present her new novel, Lonely in the Heart of the World, on Saturday, November 9th at 3 p.m. at City Lights Bookstore. Publishers Weekly offered up this glowing review: “The search for love resonates throughout this fiercely imaginative epic . . . In her leisurely but potent narrative, Meltz sustains a rhapsodic tone that embraces both the sacred and the decidedly profane, and presents humanity as both threatening and compassionate. The disparate elements harmonize in unexpected and startling ways. Sometimes gushing, frequently heart-tugging, and always gripping . . . this tale will reward the reader with a pantheistic glimpse of destruction, rebirth, and the tantalizing nature of desire and union.” Mindi Meltz’s first novel, Beauty, was published in 2009. Her publications also include essays in WNC Woman of Asheville, NC (2009), Animus of Wells, Maine (2001), and a literary anthology Earth Beneath, Sky Beyond by Outrider Press & the TallGrass Writers Guild of Crete, IL (2000). She holds an MA in Transpersonal Psychology. Her writing, based in nature and dream, has been inspired by teaching, counseling, and field biology work in many landscapes. She grew up in Maine and now lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
