Shannon, I think it might be a bit long and hard to follow for a 2 1/2 year old, although if it's being read aloud a wide age range seems to enjoy it. The parents might be able to condense the story a bit as they read it to him (there are plenty of wonderful pictures), and in a year or two he would be able to get more out of it as he's read the entire text. Just a thought. Here is a link to the publisher's information page about the book.

Also, is there a direct website that would allow me to take a closer look at Loving Ruby?

I was thinking of ordering this book for my 2 1/2 year old nephew in Oregon who LOVES to "read." Would Loving Ruby be too advanced with regards to basic subject comprehension for a boy his age? His parents obviously would read the story but I would want him to be able to grasp basic, elementary points. Thoughts?
