Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that such experiences are impossible. Eben Alexander, M.D., a highly trained academic neurosurgeon for twenty-five years, was one of those scientists. He knew that near-death experiences are real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s brain was attacked by a rare illness and he lay in a coma for seven days. His subsequent recovery is considered a medical miracle; but another miracle occurred while he lay in a coma, as he was guided to the deepest realms of super-physical existence and met and spoke with the Divine source of the universe itself. Before he underwent his journey, Dr. Alexander could not reconcile his knowledge of neuroscience with any belief in heaven, God, or the soul. Today he is a doctor who believes that true health can be achieved only when we realize that God and the soul are real and that death is not the end of personal existence but only a transition.
