The Coffee with the Poet series continues on Thursday, April 20th at 10:30 a.m. The National Poetry Month edition will feature Kathy Nelson and she will present her new collection, Whose Names Have Slipped Away. Kathy’s second chapbook, the poems in this collection are meditations on nature observed through the lens of relationship and through the universal experience of impermanence. Poet Tina Barr says that “Kathy Nelson’s work ministers to the deep places within us; she explores difficult interpersonal arenas with conviction and courage.” Editor and poet Nancy Dillingham calls Kathy Nelson’s poems “brilliant distillations of moments in nature … (that) mirror, and become metaphors for, the eternal struggles between daughters and mothers.”
The Coffee with the Poet series gathers the third Thursday of each month and is cosponsored by the NetWest chapter of the North Carolina Writers Network. For more information on Coffee with the Poet or to reserve copies of Kathy’s books please call City Lights Bookstore at 828-586-9499.
