Join hiker & author Peter J. Barr as he discusses his book Hiking North Carolina's Lookout Towers and talks about the hiking opportunities as well as the history and need for preservation of WNC fire lookout towers. The book features 26 lookout towers in western North Carolina, each with hiking routes, driving directions, historical information, details descriptions of views, maps, and photos. A Q&A session and book signing will follow.

Peter Barr is the director of the NC chapter of the Forest Fire Lookout Association, an organization actively working for the preservation of WNC's former sentinels of the forests. Also an accomplished hiker, he is a Smokies 900 miler and one of only two people to have climbed all southeastern mountain peaks above 5,000 ft. in elevation.
